Eastwick Family,Â
The month of June marks the 40th anniversary of Eastwick Education, Inc.! The original name of the corporation in 1985 was Eastwick Colleges, Inc. However, the State required us to change the name because we were not a recognized college back then. We showed those bureaucrats! Every one of us deserves recognition for this milestone.  I know how difficult our jobs are but somehow, we’ve been able to overcome the many daily issues we encounter. I’m proud of each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to the Eastwick Family. Â
I know many of you have heard about our anniversary celebration and apologize in advance if you were not invited. The room we chose has limited seating and we invited managers and employees with a certain amount of years of service. As people choose not to attend, I will add other employees to the invite list. Better late than never, right? If you end up not being invited, I promise that I will make it up in some other way. Â
Good News! Dean Linda Vinci, MSN (38-year employee) has been named one of New Jersey’s Enterprising Women in Commerce by CIANJ and Commerce Magazine. Congratulations, Linda! She will be featured in the August issue of Commerce Magazine and honored at an upcoming breakfast.Â
Our Executive VP of Operations, Bhavna Tailor, was recently elected as a three-year trustee to the CECU Board. She won in a landslide, which gave her an extra year on the board! I readily admit that she comes back from those meetings with lots more ideas than my old brain can comprehend. Congrats Bhavna!    Â
The other Executive VP and Provost, Dr. Rafael Castilla, has once again overcome all the administrative crap to gain approvals for an Associate Degree in HVAC which will be very unique in NJ. He and our Corporate Nursing Director, Dr. Emma Nabo, received approvals for all nursing programs to be offered in Nutley. The Nutley part of our family better get ready for some growth spurts! Â
Our May graduation beat all the records with over 1200 attendees. This is a massive amount of work arranging this affair. As always, our Corporate Director of Special Projects, Abylash George, and Corporate Director of Registrar, Kelly Cable, deserve all the credit. Let’s not forget the Eastwick team Abylash and Kelly put together to make the whole event go flawlessly. Thanks everyone!Â
Finally, I’m proud to say that I was recognized (AGAIN!) at the CECU convention with the Friedheim Service Award for my fifty years of commitment and dedication to the proprietary education sector. This award is shared by the entire Eastwick Family because I’m running out of room in my office! Thanks everyone!Â
