Start a rewarding career in
Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography

  • Eastwick College offers both associate and bachelor’s degree options to help you advance your career as you gain experience in the field
  • Study close to home at our campuses in Ramsey or Nutley
  • Learn how to analyze ultrasound imagery of the heart and blood vessels to help physicians make accurate medical diagnoses
  • Eligible for certification or registry exams as a CCT: RCS, RVS, SPI, RCDS, or RVT

Ultrasound is used to create internal images of the heart and vascular system through the use of sound waves, which bounce back and are translated into images by a computer. The process does not involve the use of radiation, making it an appealing option to patients. You’ll learn to check the heart for subtle differences between healthy and diseased areas, determine if scanned ultrasound images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, and record additional medical history.

The CV labs are equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasound systems. Under the supervision of our registered instructors, you will scan the heart and blood vessels. Later, you will gain clinical experience through your externship in the hospital or physician’s office.

The Department of Labor reports that the employment of diagnostic medical sonographers and ultrasound technicians is expected to increase faster than the national average. For those with previous experience or credits in the field, we offer a new bachelor’s degree option for those considering furthering their career in ultrasound. This will be especially valuable for those pursuing careers in the prestigious “Magnet hospitals,” which now often require an advanced degree.
